Igadi Solwazi is a community-based urban agroecology project
that aims to scale up indigenous knowledge of natural resource management in
open space systems. We envision the Park as a climate-proofed reservoir of
learning, education, and training for scaling indigenous knowledge and
community-based adaptation.

The proposal for a city park for the future is based on the idea that parks and open space systems can be used to promote local economic development. The plan includes urban agroecology, agro-enterprises, and 4IR with broader sustainable goals for restoring ecosystems to improve human and environmental health while providing access to sustainable human settlements, safety and security.
Iigadi Solwazi, an enterprise and knowledge garden, re-thinks community urban city parks in a post-COVID world.

It is a way for Siyakhana Food Gardens (SOFG) to expand on the robust platform that has been developed by SOFG in a way that is committed to developing decentralised urban agricultural food security within the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus on urban open space sites and parks, utilising all available resources but maximising impact, outputs and outcomes for food security and economic transformation of the food chain.
The enterprise and knowledge garden, is directed to the City of Johannesburg (Parks/Property/Sports Recreation/Mayor's Office).
