PGHS new Auditorium and Science laboratories Competition, Parktown Girls High School, JHB, SA
Winner. Dieter Brandt was the Lead Designer for MMA Architects, 2012

This proposal is for a double-storey science centre facility comprising four separate and distinct teaching spaces for a minimum of 35 learners each and a state of multi-purpose auditorium for 250 students.

The school's strong historic fabric and the triangular site's constraints meant that the larger auditorium was situated at the site's lowest point. The auditorium is parallel to the existing laboratories, and the new classrooms are lined against the angled street, forming an urban wall with calm private interior courtyards.

The material selection borrows from the historical fabric but is applied in a contemporary manner
