German-born architect, Klaus Brandt, graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1972 and practices in Namibia. Over more than forty years, he has gained a reputation for attention to detail and design concepts that embody solidity and permanence, combined with a distinctive elegance appropriate to the status of his client body and the locus standi of the site.
His designs for projects include the Parliament of Namibia, the National and Regional Councils of Namibia, and most recently, the Namibian Finance Ministry. Additional projects include the French Embassy, restorations of historical landmarks, and schools and hospitals in the north of Namibia.
Klaus was awarded the NIA Bronze Medal, the highest award of the Namibian Institute, for Waterberg Rest Camp, and has designed various other game lodges, including Popa Falls Rest Camp and Wabi Game Lodge, and the renowned boutique lodge Mowani in Damaraland.
He served on the Committee of the Namibian Institute of Architects and, along with Kerry McNamara, was enlisted on the first Honour Roll of the Institute, in appreciation of his ongoing contribution to Namibian architecture, for his commitment to upholding a standard of excellence in architectural craftsmanship and fostering the improvement of skills in the construction community.
